Attorney Dean Porter

Founding Partner of the Porter Law Firm, LLC, Dean Porter has experience in combining his legal knowledge and business expertise in a variety of legal and business ventures.  Attorney Porter is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorney (NAELA) and was also associated with the John Deere Family Office in New York and later served as President and General Counsel to Somerset Holdings.  Somerset Holdings was a private investment firm which represented high net worth investors and provided restructuring counsel and capital for troubled and bankrupt companies.  Between 1981 and 1992, Mr. Porter held several high level investment positions.  He served as President and General Counsel to the Sconset Group, a private investment firm which created and financed new ventures and structured and raised debt and equity.  The Sconset Group was also the director/principal of start-up companies in energy, technology equipment, and commercial fishing.  Mr. Porter also co-authored "Leveraged Buyout Financing," an article published in the Handbook of Mergers, Acquisitions, and Buyouts.  Mr. Porter shared his investment acumen with the U.S. House of Representatives in 1985 when he testified about Space Commercialization.

Attorney Alyson Fudge

    Of Counsel to the Porter Law Firm, Alyson Fudge focuses her practice primarily on Estate Planning, Guardian/Conservatorship Law, Probate and Estate Settlement Law and Elder Law.  Ms. Fudge served as a Judicial Clerk for Judge Condon and Judge Curry in the Charleston County Probate Court in 2001.  In this capacity, Attorney Fudge worked closely with all of the estate clerks in the Estate Division of the Charleston County Probate Court to administer estates and guide individuals and attorneys through the probate process.  In addition, Ms. Fudge worked in the Guardian and Conservatorship Division as well as the Mental Health Commitment Division of the Charleston County Probate Court.

Ms. Fudge is admitted to practice law in the State of South Carolina, and is a member of the South Carolina and Charleston County Bar Associations. Ms. Fudge earned her Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2002. She also earned a B.A. from the University of Georgia in 1998. Ms. Fudge speaks regularly to members of the public, as well as to members of the local legal community, regarding a wide range of elder law issues, and is a committee member for the Alzheimer's Association, South Carolina Chapter's annual caregiver community education conference. Ms. Fudge is also a member of the South Carolina Aging in Place Coalition.
